Central Asia in Chinese Media is a project focused on the Chinese media and how they deliver the news and events concerning Central Asia to their domestic audience. This monitoring project offers a weekly bulletin of the most notable topics discussed by the Chinese media covering Central Asian domestic and regional politics, economy, and security, as well as the BRI-related projects and activities in the region.
This week, Chinese media reported on Kyrgyzstan's parliament's willingness to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China's top legislatures, plans for an informal meeting between Uzbekistan’s and Kazakhstan’s leaders, an increase in Kazakhstan's sovereign credit rating, the arrest of three biotech company employees linked to deaths in Uzbekistan, and the export of 800 China-made buses to Uzbekistan.
This week, Chinese media reported on the resumption of passenger clearance at Xinjiang's road ports, Uzbekistan's goal to add 4.3 GW of wind and solar power by 2023, and contracts and agreements inked between Uzbekistan and Egypt.

This past week, Chinese media outlets reported on scientific research findings on the key factors causing the Aral Sea to shrink over the last 20 years, the Belt and Road News Network's (BRNN) Second Council Meeting in Beijing, Chinese envoy to the UN calling for more international support for Afghanistan, and the agreements signed on union (allied) relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and the demarcation of the border between the two Central Asian countries.
